- In July and August demand usually rises with the diaspora: buy then and you often pay more.
- From January to March the market is usually quiet: if you can wait, buy then.
- When used cars get dearer in Germany, they usually get dearer here a few months later.
Prices are no accident
Prices here do not move at random. Three forces push them. Kosovo has no official price statistics for used cars; these are rules of thumb, not market laws.
Diaspora, winter and the import price
- The diaspora: in July and August many diaspora members arrive, often in their own cars. Demand rises and so does supply — sell then and you sell fast; buy then and you pay more.
- Winter: from January to March the market is quiet. If you can wait, buy then.
- The import price: when used cars get dearer in Germany, they get dearer here too — a few months later.
A valuation instead of a hunch
Rather than trusting a hunch, use our valuation: it works from current listings and recent sales of comparable cars in Kosovo, not from a list-price table.
Rule of thumb: sell in summer, buy in winter. For the same car the gap can be several hundred euros — without negotiating at all.
