Prices here do not move at random. Three forces push them, and all three are predictable.
- The diaspora: in July and August tens of thousands of cars and buyers arrive. Demand rises and so does supply — sell then and you sell fast; buy then and you pay more.
- Winter: from January to March the market is quiet. If you can wait, buy then.
- The import price: when used cars get dearer in Germany, they get dearer here too — a few months later.
Rule of thumb: sell in summer, buy in winter. For the same car the gap can be several hundred euros — without negotiating at all.
Rather than trusting a hunch, use our valuation: it works from comparable cars actually on the market today, not from an old table.
